The Maintenance Mechanic will plan and implement the maintenance and repair of electromechanical operated systems, equipment, or pneumatic functional operations. The Borough of Highspire is presently seeking to fill the position of Laboratory Supervisor in the Wastewater Treatment Plant. This position at the direction of the Public Works Superintendent, supervises, assigns, reviews and participates in the work of staff responsible for providing laboratory services and support of wastewater operations; ensures work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures; and provides training on proper laboratory test procedures and sample collection and processing. This position is responsible for the operation of the wastewater treatment plant laboratory and performs routine and specialized chemical, microbiological and physical laboratory analyses on wastewater and biosolids to comply with discharge requirements of the Boroughs 2 MGD Plant. The applicant must possess mechanical and technical aptitudes which could be applied toward the laboratory, operations, and maintenance skills required in wastewater treatment.  Applicants may work non-traditional hours and must also be able to respond to emergency call-outs after normal work hours. 

Applicants must have a High School Diploma or G.E.D.  A valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License, Class B (preferred.) A Pennsylvania Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators Certificate, Class B, sub classification 1, 5. Prior experience working in a laboratory setting is preferred. The employee must successfully pass a criminal background check, physical exam and drug test.  

Salary is $25.80 hr. after a 90 day probation period.  Benefits are based on a union collective bargaining agreement.
