Lehigh County Authority has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Utility Maintenance Technician.  The individual in this role will perform a variety of duties to maintain, construct, and repair water and sanitary sewer infrastructure system.


Education, knowledge, and experience requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent, OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience required
  • Knowledge of, and 1 or more years of hands-on experience in utility or other related construction field. Experience in water and sewer pipe repairs methods and tools is highly desired.
  • Valid PA driver’s license is required

An OIT must be progressing in water system certification by the PA DEP, and is entrusted with ensuring compliance environmental and public health regulatory compliance with a licensed and fully certified Operator. An Operator works under the direction of the Operations Supervisor, with senior oversight by the Operations Manager. A local waste water treatment facility is seeking an operator to run it’s 1 MGD plant. The person holding this position would be responsible for the operation and maintenance, keeping it in compliance with the NPDES Permit. 

The Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator must be certified by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and possess a minimum of a Type 1 Class CD, Sub-class 1, operators' certificate and have a minimum of 5 years of experience operating an Activated Sludge Waste Water Treatment facility

Operator must be experienced in maintenance and general repair of mechanical and plumbing systems. Knowledge of electrical systems maintenance a plus. Must also be experienced in the collection and laboratory analyses of wastewater in compliance with the facility’s NPDES Permit. General computer literacy required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel are necessary for this position. Knowledge of eMaint (CMMS software) would be a plus.
