Plant Operation & Maintenance Worker who will report directly to the Assistant Plant Superintendent. The work of the Plant Operation & Maintenance Worker involves occasional heavy-
physical exertion, exposure to disagreeable conditions, and working outdoors through all weather conditions. This position involves maintenance work at the semi-skilled level. The Plant Operation & Maintenance Worker is responsible for general plant operations, house cleaning, dewatering, and disposal of sewage solids generated at the Township's wastewater treatment plants.

The duties of the Plant Operation & Maintenance Worker include but are not limited to:

• Operates and maintains various mechanical equipment throughout the treatment plants.
• Inspects the operation of plant equipment and characteristics of the wastewater.
• Takes readings from various meters; maintains log sheets and charts.
• Troubleshoots problems to determine the cause of wastewater condition.
• Draws sludge from clarifiers and pumps to various locations within the plant.
• Collects samples of wastewater and monitors flow data from various areas within the wastewater treatment plant facility.
• Regulates rates for sludge flow, chemical feed, and air application by opening and closing valves and gates.

Must have at least 3 years of experience in the water & wastewater and be PA certified in one or both industries. One license is acceptable with the ability to obtain the second license within one year.
