Summary:
Under the supervision of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Superintendent, maintain the proper functioning of the Wastewater Treatment Plant by relieving operators on shift work rotation and performing routine maintenance work on all plant equipment.
Schedule:
Typically, Monday through Friday 7:00am to 3:00pm, or as directed.
Pay rate for 2025:
Starting rate: $31.40/hour
Full rate: $34.89/hour

Requirements:
Valid PA DEP Wastewater Operators License Class B,E Subclass 1,2,3,4
Valid PA Driver's License
Thorough knowledge of wastewater treatment principles, processes, and plant operations
Skill in the use and care of machinery and equipment used in all phases of the operation
Ability to meet approved physical standards
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform daily inspection of pump stations including greasing pumps, washing down wet wells, and cleaning rakes and troughs
Operate belt filter press
As plant operator: collect samples, perform necessary lab tests, record results
As plant mechanic: perform preventative and corrective maintenance on all plant equipment including pumps, blowers, filters, heaters, compressors, lab ovens, flow meters, etc.
Diagnose and correct problems in control panels and bubbler warning systems
Perform fabrication work such as cutting, forming, drilling, welding, and brazing of parts
Perform building and groundskeeping maintenance as necessary
Operate vehicles and equipment such as frontend loaders, forklifts, power saws, and drill press
Perform basic computer data entry
Perform tasks requiring mechanical aptitude
Carry out program of preventative maintenance
Perform other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Ability to see, read, print, and draw letters, numbers, words, characters, and symbols both large and small
Ability to hear normal conversations and communicate clearly, both orally and written
